Choose the BOOK
You may be given book at different stages of your academics. So it depends upon the stage that which book you should choose to write a book review. If you are at college level then you must choose a book that creates an interest of all the young age guys. It is a fact that all most of the young age students don’t like traditional book that are too boring to read.

I am not saying to choose a book on Hollywood but it should be like anything that binds your audience. And I you are at school level then choose a book on literacy that have won Nobel Prize. Rather than picking a book like Twilight, it should be somewhat matching with your education and career.
Learn the book
Learn the book before you start reading it. Try to know that what your book is all about and what is its theme of story. Read about the author who wrote the book. Know the background of author because that may be asked you in the question and answer session.
If available, find the introduction of the book and read it carefully. The introduction of the book will help you a lot in getting the theme of the book.

Read the book
Before you start writing your book review, read the book to write a great book review.
Notes making: Take pen and copy, start writing the main points of the book. You need to make note of all the important aspects of the book. These notes will help you to remember the key points of the book you find while reading.

Summary: First of all you need to summarize your whole book review. Make a proper table of content. Summarize author description, preface and short description about the book.
